A new psychiatry research wing at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University, was dedicated here yesterday at a ceremony attended by some 250 persons. Construction of the new wing was made possible through an initial gift of $250,000 by David Schwartz, an industrialist and Mrs. Schwartz.
The new addition, to be called the David and Irene Schwartz Psychiatry Research Wing, embodies new electronic and other devices for psychiatric testing and research. A special unit presents subliminal stimuli to a patient in one room, while his heart, pulse and other physical reactions are recorded in an adjoining unit. Rooms are equipped with one-way screens to enable students and graduate trainees to observe psychiatric examinations without disturbing the patient.
