The 21st annual General Assembly of the Council of Jewish Federations and Welfare Funds will be held November 21-23, at the Hotel Statler in Boston, Julian Freeman, president of the Council, announced today. Delegates of Jewish communities throughout the United States and Canada will participate of services and action for 1953.
The community representatives will also discuss and take action on problems of greatest concern to Jewish communities in 1953, Mr. Freeman stressed. Prominent among these are plans for financing local, national and overseas needs in the light of current fund raising trends, national coordination of Jewish community relations services, campaign problems and plans for 1953, the role of American Jewish philanthropy in assisting Israel in the light of other forms of financing, and basic directions in strengthening local Jewish community organization.
The Council of Jewish Federations and Welfare Funds is the national association serving 800 Jewish communities in the United States and Canada as their instrument in dealing with national problems and in providing central services in budgeting, community organization, campaigning, social planning and community interpretation. Member agencies of the Council annually raise more than 90 percent of all central funds used for Jewish welfare purposes overseas and at home.
