A “Jewish Fighting Force Committee” to further, in cooperation with the Jewish Agency, the cause of a Jewish fighting force in Palestine as well as the home defense of the country, was organized here today under the joint chairmanship of Capt. Victor Cazalet and Lord Wedgwood. A number of members of both houses of the Parliament joined the committee.
The attitude of the British Labor Party towards the present policy of the Palestine Government is outlined in a report prepared for the 41st annual conference of the party and made public by its national executive committee today.
The conference, which opens in London on May 25, will learn from the’ report that the Laborite members of the British Parliament consider the Palestine administration biased against the admission of Jewish refugees who escape from Nazi oppression in Europe. The adoption by the Government of a more sympathetic policy towards Jewish immigration into Palestine is urged in the report.
A conference of women workers, which concluded here today, voiced a request that the British Government permit the entrance into Palestine of 68 Jews from Nazi-held countries now stranded in Turkey. The victims are in danger of being sent back to their native lands should they be denied sanctuary in Palestine.
