Funds from the sale of unclaimed Jewish property in Germany will be used to finance construction of a $2,267,678 apartment building project here primarily for victims of Nazi persecution. The 135-family 12-story apartment building will be built in suburban Queens. Tenant priority will be limited almost completely to aged victims of such persecution.
The money will come from United Help, Inc., a group organized in 1955 to allocate in the United States part of the funds from the sale of “masterless” Jewish property in Germany, real estate whose Jewish owners vanished during the war, presumably victims of the Nazi extermination policy. The sponsor of the state-aided apartment project is the Fellowship Fund for the Aged Housing Company of New York which is sponsored in turn by the United Help Inc.
