Annette Fishman, 13-year-old junior high school girl here who practiced on the piano for years in the back of her father’s fruit store, has won a scholarship at the Curtis Institute of Music, Philadelphia.

She triumphed against competition from twenty older candidates from all parts of the country.

Annette has been studying under Mme. Olga Samaroff, former wife of Leopold Stokowski, conductor of the Philadelphia Symphony Orchestra. She began work at the age of seven with Henry A. Gruhler of this city as first teacher.
