The Israel Government and the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany, which represents Jewish communities outside of Israel, have authorized Dr. Nahum Goldmann to inform the German Government that both Israel and the Conference have agreed to accept Germany’s invitation to negotiate reparations claims, it was officially announced here today by Conference leaders. The announcement reads:
“Dr. Nahum Goldmann, chairman of the Conference of Jewish Material Claims Against Germany, who was asked last December by the Chancellor of the German Federal Republic to convey to the Israel Government and to the Conference on Jewish Claims, has been authorized to inform the German Government that both Israel and the Conference have agreed to accept the invitation.
“It has been mutually agreed that these negotiations will begin about the middle of March in a neutral country. The Government of Israel and the Conference on Jewish Claims will be represented by two separate delegations who will discuss respective claims with a special delegation of the German Federal Government.”
