Jewish groups applauded the 306-118 vote in the U.S. House of Representatives approving legislation that would extend new protections for religious liberty. The Religious Liberty Protection Act will “protect minority faiths and their adherents in a variety of situations,” said the Orthodox Union. The Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism said the bill, which still needs Senate approval, “will make a real difference to Americans who take their religious beliefs seriously.”
