Jewish groups applauded U.S. congressional calls to have the International Red Cross accept Israel’s Magen David Adom. Sens. Peter Fitzgerald (R-Ill.) and Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.), together with 51 other senators, sent letters to U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell and Red Cross officials urging that the Red Cross admit the Israeli organization.
