Five members of the Vilno Hechalutz organization, members of the Laborite group intending to go to Palestine as pioneers, were wounded yesterday when the Brith Trumpeldor, Revisionist youth organization, raided a meeting of the Hechalutz and the laborites crying, “This is in return for Haifa.”
The battle was continued on the streets of Vilno with passers-by being drawn into the conflict. Several outsiders were badly beaten. The battle continued until police arrived on the scene and dispersed the combatants, arresting three members of the Brith Trumpeldor.
The disorders followed a conflict last week between Laborites and Revisionists in Haifa. Palestine, when the latter allegedly acted as strike breakers in a building strike called by the local labor council. The Revisionists, having only a few members in Haifa, brought in reinforcements from outside and attempted a demonstration. In the clash that followed, several Revisionists were badly beaten including the secretary of the Palestinian Revisionist party. The Revisionist movement is particularly strong in Poland.
