Four major American Jewish organizations issued a Joint statement supporting today’s nationwide Moratorium protest against the war in Vietnam. In their statement, the Jewish groups: deplored the daily events which “confirm anew the total failure of American policy in Indo-China.” The only rational and moral course left “at this tragic moment is immediate and total withdrawal of all American forces–land, see and air,” the statement declared.

“Only in this way can we bring home our prisoners of war. Only in this way can the Vietnamese people who have endured the agony of war for more than a generation begin at last the task of healing and of peacemaking.” The statement was issued by the American Jewish Congress, Americans for Progressive Israel-Hashomer Hatzair, Labor Zionist Alliance, and Union of American Hebrew Congregations.
