Jewish groups gave a lukewarm response to the possibility that Yom Kippur could become a national holiday in France. Speaking Thursday at a school near Paris to mark the start of the new school year, Education Minister Francois Fillon said the government was “open to dialogue” on the possibility of creating national holidays for Jews and Muslims.
