A United Committee to Save European Jewry, with representatives of the Jewish Agency for Palestine, the Jewish National Council of Palestine, the Agudas Israel and the New Zionist Organization participating, was established at an organizational meeting held here today.
At the meeting it was decided to 1) press for urgent relief measures to assist the Jews of Europe; 2) take steps to see that the Yishuv’s reaction to the slaughter of the Jews does not slacken, in view of the fact that no practical action has been initiated as yet by the United Nations; and 3) demand that the gates of Palestine be opened for immigration of refugee Jews.
The Hebrew Writers Association here today cabled to the Pen Club in Great Britain and America urging writers to “raise their voices against Nazi cruelties and help to save defenseless Jews from a merciless foe.”
