The American Jewish Committee and the National Community Relations Advisory Council, which comprise six national Jewish organizations and 30 local Jewish community councils, today sent telegrams to President Eisenhower commending his executive order establishing a government committee to prevent discriminatory employment practices in enterprises working on government contracts.
The American Jewish Committee emphasized in its telegram that it trusts that the committee will be enabled to adopt such measures as will result in the “complete elimination of inequality based on race, color, creed or national origin in work per-formed for the government.” The NCRAC expressed hope that the program “will be implemented in such a way as to make a maximum contribution to the achievements of equality of opportunity for all Americans.”
