The Jewish Immigrant Aid Society of Canada will propose to the Canadian immigration authorities in Ottawa that the Dominion’s present special immigration project for the admission of immigrants with specific skills be extended three more months beyond the present deadline of October 31, it was decided at a conference here of JIAS and HIAS officials.
Ben Touster, president of HIAS, revealed after the parley that if the Canadian authorities grant the extension it will be possible for most of the prospective immigrants for Canada whom HIAS is processing overseas to arrive in this country in time to meet the new deadline. They have been delayed in their immigration because of complex security clearances.
