Jewish relief organizations evacuated Paris before the German entry into the French capital, it was learned here today.
The Joint Distribution Committee completed the evacuation of its Paris office on Wednesday. Morris C. Troper, J.D.C. European chairman, and other American members of the staff remained until the last moment and then left for Bordeaux. Part of the staff had already been established in Angers, where the J.D.C. opened an office last September. All J.D.C. files were removed from Paris.
The HIAS-ICA Emigration Association evacuated to Bordeaux on Tuesday, according to a cable from Dr. James Bernstein to Isaac L. Asofsky, director of the HIAS here. It is hoped that emigration of Jewish refugees to the United States can be continued on whatever ships leave the southern coast of France.
