Jewish Groups Urge Eisenhower to Appoint Study Commission

President Eisenhower was urged yesterday by the 33 Jewish organizations affiliated with the National Community Relations Advisory Council to appoint a commission of leading citizens formal walks of American life to study “the issues involved in striking a balance between the requirements of national security and the requirements of individual liberty. ” In a joint communication to the President, the Jewish groups pointed out that his recent statements on book-burning had “focused public attention” on crucial problems.
