The Jewish Guild for the Blind disclosed today it had received a license to operate the first psychiatric clinic for treating emotionally disturbed and mentally retarded blind, and visually handicapped children, in the United States.
John Rosenthal, president, said the clinic would treat patients up to 21 years of age, and their families. He said the idea was an outgrowth of a program for blind children with other handicaps, organized 12 years ago. The clinic is now in operation at the New York office of the non-sectarian guild.
