Hundreds of Jowish organizations in communities throughout the United States completed preparations today for participation in Jewish History Week, which opens on Sunday. The project is being conducted by the American Jewish Historical Society, which is under the sponsorship of the National Jewish Welfare Board.
Jewish History Week has, as one of its basic aims, the building up of an understanding of the contributions Jews have made to the physical, moral, and spiritual growth of America. The Week seeks to develop in the general Jewish population an awareness of current movements, trends and problems in the Jewish community of America “in the light of this country’s history.”
JTA has documented Jewish history in real-time for over a century. Keep our journalism strong by joining us in supporting independent, award-winning reporting.
The Archive of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency includes articles published from 1923 to 2008. Archive stories reflect the journalistic standards and practices of the time they were published.
