Immigration of Jews to South Africa during September was twice as great as during the preceding month, according to the report submitted by the immigration official of the Board of Jewish Deputies of South Africa at its annual meeting yesterday.
During August the Board’s representative met 12 incoming steamers with 45 immigrants aboard. During September the same official met 15 steamers which brought 115 Jewish immigrants.
The Board of Jewish Deputies of South Africa also considered the question of Jewish immigrants naturalized as citizens of South Africa who, when they go to England or other parts of the British Empire are regarded by the authorities as aliens. The Board decided to make the necessary representations to the Minister of the Interior.
