For the first time in its history the Congress of the International Landworkers’ Federation, which just concluded its sessions here, had a Jewish representation. The Jewish agricultural Workers’ Organization of Palestine, the largest and most important union in the General Federation of Jewish labor in Palestine, sent a special delegation headed by Zwi Luft, secretary-general of the Jewish union.
Mr. Luft explained to the Congress the specific character of the Palestinian organization, which, he pointed out, includes both landworkers and settlers on land who engage part of the year in other work. His statements about the achievements of the Palestinian Jewish landworkers, the forms of agricultural settlement in Palestine, (the Kvutzoth and Moshavim) and the efforts to change fundamentally the economic and social structure of the Jewish people were received with great attention and interest by the other delegates to the Congress.
Many speakers following Mr. Luft urged that methods of the Palestinian Jewish landworkers be applied to other countries.
