A number of Jewish laborers, employed at the Aquir airdrome, near Gaza, scene of a raid yesterday by terrorists, are being held for interrogation, an official communique announced today.
Six hundred Sten and Maxim machine guns were abandoned by the raiders in a truck after paratroopers had given chase. The terrorists escaped in a jeep and were lost sight of five miles from Aquir.
Five Jews arrested with arms and ammunition in their possession near Nebimousse, between Jericho and here, will be held for at least two weeks, pending further questioning, it was reported today. Authorities are investigating possible links between the five and terrorists responsible for recent violence. Ninety-four persons of 172 detained since last Dec. 27 are still being held for further inquiry, it was officially announced.
