A majority of 1,222 Jewish laymen who answered a questionnaire submitted by the National Federation of Temple Brotherhoods would like to see religious teachings applied to everyday life, Roger W. Straus. President, announced.
The questionnaire was sent to 17,500 men, and answers were received from 7 per cent, living in 103 communities and representing 124 congregations.
Voting on suggested sermon subjects, 20 per cent of those replying expressed a preference for Jewish problems, 18 per cent for Jewish movements, 14 per cent for spiritual matters, 11 per cent for Jewish history and 10 per cent for social problems.
