Israel Aaron Maisels, a former judge of the High Court of Rhodesia, has been appointed a Judge of the Courts of Appeal of the newly independent African states of Lesotho, formerly Basutoland, and Botswana, formerly Bechuanal, and the British Protectorate of Swaziland, it was reported here today.
Judge Maisels joins Judges E. R. Roper, O. D. Schreiner, and A. M. Hathorn on a court which will act as the highest court of appeals in each of the three countries. This arrangement will end the prior need for such appeals to go from the high court of each of the three countries to the Privy Council in Britain.
