Nathan Frank, Congressman from St. Louis during 1889-1891, will probably be a Republican candidate in the fall primary for the office of United States Senator. The election will be for the seat held by the late Selden P. Spencer. A recess appointment was given by Governor Baker of Missouri to Geo. H. Williams, now Senator from Missouri.
In a recent statement Mr. Frank said, “My friends in the party declare that they think a term in the United States Senate would be a fitting climax to my long and faithful service to the party, both locally and nationally. I informed them that I would agree to accept their offer of support providing there be no opposing candidates. My friends informed me that I would have an open field for the office.”
Nathan Frank has been actively identified in Republican politics for nearly forty years. In addition to his Congressional office he has served as a member of city committees, chairman of state committees and has been known as an active supporter of civic affairs. Recently Mr. Frank donated a bandstand to the City of St. Louis. Mr. Frank is seventy-four years of age.
