Jewish Leader Named U.S. Representative on U. N. Subcommittee

Morris B. Abram, a prominent attorney in Atlanta, Ga., and active in Jewish communal affairs, was nominated by the United States delegation here today as the American representative on the Subcommission on the Prevention of Discrimination and Protection of Minorities. Mr. Abram will succeed Judge Philip Halpern, of Buffalo. The nomination is tantamount to election.

Mr. Abram, who is 42, was a member of the American prosecution staff during the Nuremberg trials of Nazi war criminals in 1946. Since last year he has been general counsel for the United States Peace Corps. He is a member of the civil rights commission and national commission of the Anti-Defamation League of B’nai B’rith, a member of the executive committee of the American Jewish Committee, and a member of the joint social action commission of the Union of American Hebrew Congregations.
