Delegates from Jewish communities throughout the British Commonwealth assembled here today in advance of the opening tomorrow afternoon of the second conference of Commonwealth Jewry. The first session will be devoted to a discussion of the problems of Israel.
The delegates were formally welcomed today at a meeting of the Board of Deputies of British Jews and will be guests at a special reception given tonight in their honor by the Board. The World Jewish Congress will give the delegates a reception tomorrow evening.
Neither the president nor the vice-president of the South African Board of Jewish Deputies will be able to attend the sessions of the Commonwealth parley L Maisels, president, is recovering from a recent operation, while M. Ettlinger, who is in London now, has been prevented from attending the parley by a sudden illness.
