Jewish Leaders in Germany Discuss Appointment of Representative to Federal Government

Leaders of Jewish communities in Western Germany conferred today over the appointment of a Jewish representative to the new Western German Federal Republic at Bonn. No final decision was reached.

Rabbis representing the larger Jewish communities in Western Germany will meet in Frankfurt tomorrow to formulate plans for reviving the religious and cultural activities of the Jews. Rabbi Isaac Klein, now serving in a liaison capacity for the Synagogue Council of America with the Allied Commission on Religious Affairs, said that definite steps will be taken leading to the recreation of Jewish institutions in Western Germany.

A telegram of felicitations on his 75th birthday was dispatched to Israel President Chaim Weizmann by Dr. Christian Stock, Minister President of Hesse. He recalled in the message that period when Dr. Weizmann taught at the Israelite Institute of Pfungstadt, Hesse, the birthplace of the Hesse Minister.
