Impressive services, attended by rabbinical and Jewish organizational representatives who came here for the purpose from all over the country, were held here today in memory of the late Moses W. Beckelman, director-general of the Joint Distribution Committee, who died recently in New York.
The services were held at Beth El Synagogue. The religious portion of the commemorative ceremony was conducted by Rabbi Levine, of the Lubavitcher Schools here. S.D. Levy, “father” of Moroccan Jewry, eulogized Mr. Beckelman, recalling his “untiring and generous efforts in helping alleviate the plight of thousands of needy Moroccan Jews.”
