New difficulties have arisen between the representatives of the Jewish community in Constantinople and the Angora government, notwithstanding the decision of the National Assembly of Turkish Jews to renounce their claim to the national minority rights of the Treaty of Lausanne.
It was learned here today that the leaders of the Jewish community have rejected the amendments to the communal statute as suggested by the government. It is understood that the Jewish leaders have submitted a counter proposal to the government and representatives left for Angora to obtain the government’s approval for the new bill.
