A call for stronger involvement by the American Jewish community in actions warning against the dangers to Israel as a result of recent threats by the Arab states, and due to the Egyptian employment of German scientists for the production of weapons of mass destructions aimed at Israel, was issued here today by the American Jewish League for Israel.
More than 100 persons participating in a meeting called by the League heard addresses by Mrs. Rose L. Halprin, chairman of the American section of the Jewish Agency; Woolf Perry, deputy chairman of the United Israel Appeal; Dr. Mordecai Kaplan, Judge Louis E. Levinthal, Jacob M. Alkow and Ezra Z. Shapiro. Samuel H. Daroff, president of the League, presided. The meeting also adopted resolutions calling for revitalization of the Zionist movement, “drastic changes” in the constitutional form of the World Zionist Congress, and elimination of the traditional shekel.
