The Macedonian Governor, Philippe Dragoumis, said today that unless certain newspapers cease their attacks, which are directed primarily against the Jewish population, steps will be taken to punish their editors.
In an interview with the writer Dragoumis said:
“The government has definitely decided to forbid the publication of articles tending to arouse violent emotions, especially which encourage enmity between the Jewish and non-Jewish peoples.
“We disapprove entirely of the campaign of certain newspapers against a proportion of the Greek population. We consider every citizen equally valuable and important in the state. If these decisions are not adhered to, our patience will certainly be at an end and the offending newspapers will be punished by swift action.”
