The national elections held here yesterday ended with a victory for the Social Democrats and failure for the Jewish list. None of the candidates of the Jewish Elections Committee was elected in any of the districts. The Hakenkreuzler party also failed. With the exception of one candidate for the Lower Austria Landtag, none of the Hakenkreuzler candidates was elected. Even Riehl, the most notorious of the rabid anti-Semites, failed.

The Social Democrats gained considerably, sharing the spoils with the United Austrian Bloc.

The failure of the Hakenkreuzler is considered here as a collapse of the party.

Leaders of the Jewish Election Committee explained the failure of their candidates by the circumstance that the elections took place on the last day of Passover, when many of the Jewish voters were unable to go to the polls. The representatives of the Jewish population asked the government to postpone the election date, but this request was refused.
