Hyman Morries, a Jew, has been unanimously elected Lord Mayor of Leeds, the sixth Jewish mayor to be chosen in England, it was announced today.
Morris, who has been a member of the Leeds City Council since 1922, was nominated by a Conservative, Alderman Walker; seconded by a Laborite, Alderman Brett; and supported by a Liberal, Alderman Boyle.
