Jewish members of Canada’s Conservative Party are protesting the scheduling of elections for a new party leader on a Shabbat. An advance poll for the Saturday, March 20, vote is scheduled for Saturday, March 13. “We are seriously concerned about this,” B’nai Brith Canada wrote to the party’s governing council, adding that many observant Jewish voters could be disenfranchised.
