A memorandum of protest from the Jewish Deputies Club of the Polish Parliament protesting against the stoppage of immigration to Palestine has been sent to the House of Lords and House of Commons of the British Parliament. The memo points out that the Jewish deputies represent three million Jews who are vitally concerned in the stoppage order and appeal to the highest instances of the British Parliament to consider the facts presented in the memorandum.
The memorandum recalls that Great Britain was entrusted with the Palestine mandate at San Remo, April 24, 1920, and that it was confirmed at London July 24, 1922. It points out that according to article 2 of the Mandate the Mandatory power has undertaken to create political, administrative and economic conditions enabling the creation of a Jewish National Home. The memorandum then expresses regret that up to the present the Mandatory power “has not taken steps to realize its obligations but on the contrary, the British administration has prevented the development of the Jewish National Home”.
The memorandum, copies of which have been sent to leaders of the various parties in the British Parliament, the Jewish National Council and the Zionist Executive, concludes with an appeal to ” the oldest parliament in the world to use its influence on the British government for the abolition of the suspension order and to help the Jewish people in the upbuilding of the Jewish National Home.”
