Four hundred delegates attended a conference of Jewish merchants held here to discuss the economic position of Polish Jewry.
Whereas four years ago seventy per cent of the trade and industry of the country was in Jewish hands, the present government policy has reduced the number considerably, it was reported to the conference. Upon representations having been made to the government, leaders explained that the economic standard of the Jews is considerably higher than that of the Poles, which is regarded as abnormal.
