Mme. Georgette Glodek, a Jewess, has entered a suit against the Rev. Henry Brandeth, Chaplain of St. George’s Church of Paris, on charges he baptized her two children into the Anglican faith without her consent. She has also appealed to Queen Elizabeth of Britain, as head of the Anglican Church, to annul the baptisms.
Mme. Glodek, who raised her children in the Jewish faith, was divorced from their father, Magistrate Roland Levy. Although she was given custody of the children, he had them once a week. On one of these visits last year Judge Levy had the children baptized by Rev. Brandeth, who has since stated that as far as he knew, the father had complete custody of the children and used to bring them to church regularly. Mme. Glodek is asking 1,000 pounds damages.
