The sum of $1,000,000 for the purchase of new land tracts in Palestine, to pave the way for accelerated Jewish agricultural development and make possible the absorption of large-scale immigration, was cabled yesterday to the headquarters of the Jewish National Fund in Jerusalem, it was announced today by Judge Morris Rothenberg, president of the JNF.
The remittance, coinciding with the preparations for the opening of the World Zionist conference, which is to meet next Tuesday in London, is “an expression of American Jewry’s solidarity with the demand for opening the gates of the country to the Jewish men, women and children, who were liberated by the United Nations and are now awaiting their opportunity to begin life anew on the soil of the ancestral land,” Judge Rothenberg said.
