The Jewish National Fund Council of Detroit honored Leonard N. Simons, Jewish communal leader, with a dinner here tonight at which plans were completed for a Simons’ forest in Israel. The JNF Council said that a number of Mr. Simons’ friends had already contributed gifts for gardens of trees in the planned forest.
A former chairman of the Allied Jewish Campaign, Mr. Simons serves on the boards of the American Friends of the Hebrew University, Sinai Hospital of Detroit, Jewish home for the Aged, the Hillel Foundations of the University of Michigan and Wayne State University, the Jewish Publication Seociety of America, the Jewish Welfare Federation of Detroit, the Jewish Historical Society and the Joint Distribution Committee.
