The Jewish National Fund in Britain raised a total of 1, 030, 148 pounds ($2, 884, 000) during the past year, it was reported here today at the annual conference of the British JNF. Addressing the conference, Rosser Chinn, president of the British JNF, expressed satisfaction at the progress of the joint project with the British Zionist Federation in establishing a 300, 000-tree forest in memory of the late Winston Churchill.
A major project for 1966 was announced on behalf of the JNF in Britain and Ireland by Dr. I. Levy, who presented details of a plan for the establishment of Netua Village in Israel’s Galilee in an undeveloped area which has not been inhabited by Jews for more than 2, 000 years. Dr. Levy said that work has already been started on the project in clearing land for the site of the new settlement.
