The Jerusalem municipality today called on the Jews of the city to extend every hospitality to Catholic pilgrims who visit the city during this Vatican-proclaimed Holy Year. The proclamation assured the pilgrims that they would find full freedom of religious practice in the city.
The Jordan authorities in the Old City, however, have refused permission for a group of pilgrims to cross into Jordan-controlled territory to visit the Holy places and then return to Israel. The group, numbering 71, is scheduled to land at Lydda Saturday because the plane on which they will travel is too large to land at the Jordan air strip at Kollandia.
