A Jewish newspaper and a sense of humor saved William Kidney, 65, from a charge of disorderly conduct, yesterday. Kidney, who lives in a rural section of the Allegheny County, came into the city to do some Easter shopping, and got drunk incidentally. When he was informed that he was to face Magistrate Leo Rothenberg in police court, he wrapped his purchases in a Jewish newspaper and held the package so that Magistrate Rothenberg couldn’t miss seeing it. When the magistrate saw the newspaper he laughed and said: “You win, and your excuse is the best yet. You are discharged.”
