The Jewish Party will contest the municipal council elections here on May 22 and in suburban centers May 29 as an independent unit. a manifesto explained that political events in the past few months had proved the necessity of cooperation by the Jewish population with the administration of a democratic State and therefore the Jews had to stand united in the democratic camp. But, the manifesto continued “it would be fatal if individual Jews should encroach on the political struggle of non-Jewish parties, thus giving an opportunity for introduction of an anti-Semitic note in the electoral campaign.”
