Dr. George Alexander Kohut will celebrate his fiftieth birthday Tuesday, February 12. Dr. Kohut has established in Vienna and Berlin foundations hearing the name of his father, Alexander Kohut. He also created the foundation at Yale University to which he gave a large part of his father’s library. For years he was helpful in the work of the Jewish Theological Seminary and, since its founding, he has been interested in the work of the Jewish Institute of Religion which has been the recipient of many benefactions from him including the Alexander Kohut memorial prize in Talmud, the Rebekah Kohut prize in social service and the Alexander Kohut memorial publication fund of the Institute press.
