Jewish physicians were lauded for their idealism by Minister of Health Ioanitzescu in reply to an attack launched in Parliament by Professor Cuza who charged that Jewish physicians poison the Roumanian people.
Amid applause from Parliament, Minister Ioanitzescu recalled the name of a Jewish physician, Dr. Doerfern, recently decorated, who gave his own blood forty-five times for transfusion purposes for non-Jews.
The anti-Semitic deputy, Robu, attempted to attack the Jewish deputy, Michael Landau, when the latter recalled that a Jewish physician saved the life of Cuza’s daughter.
