Protests by Jews and others against religious education in the public schools of Fort Colborne, Ontario, has resulted in action by the local authorities to halt such teaching, the Canadian Jewish Congress reported here.
In the face of a move to bring religious education into the schools, the school authorities decided to wait for reaction from the public. When it became obvious that unanimity on religious education would not be achieved, the local school board requested of the provincial authorities permission not to teach religion in the schools.
