Officials of Jewish organizations in Austria told the Jewish Telegraphic Agency that ordinary callisthenic exercises, which have been part of the programs of all camps in Austria for the past two years, were obviously mistaken for military training courses in view of the disturbed situation in Palestine.
An authoritative official attached to United States Forces headquarters in Austria, which announced on Friday that it had opened an investigation of reports that Jewish DP’s in the country were training for Haganah, said today that these "press reports are being investigated by U.S.F. headquarters, but to date they remain unconfirmed."
