The Jewish Reconstructionist Foundation has become the 25th national agency to join the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, Dr. William A. Wexler, chairman of the Presidents Conference, said that the adherence of the Reconstructionist body would “add a vital and significant voice of Jewish life to our deliberations and activities.” Dr. Wexler noted the tributes paid last week to Dr. Mordecai Kaplan, founder of the Reconstructionist movement, on his 90th birthday, and said that the participation of representatives of the Reconstructionist Foundation in the Presidents Conference would “strengthen still further the role and reputation of the Presidents Conference as the authentic ‘central address’ for the American Jewish community in dealing with international Jewish concern.” Rabbi Ira Eisenstein, Jewish Reconstructionist Foundation president, said his organization looked forward to playing an active role in the work of the Presidents Conference.
