The first group of Jews recruited by Mr. Raschkes in Lithuania for the Jewish settlement in Bureya, arrived here this evening. The party consists of 30 adults, and 25 children.
There is nothing to lose, and there may be something to gain, the immigrants stated, when asked by the J. T. A. representative here what had prompted them to go out to Bureya. All we want is a safe and secure existence, they said.
After a short rest in Moscow, in the course of which they met the Jewish Communist leader, Mr. Merezhin, and had a long talk with him, the group left immediately on their way to Siberia. Several other parties of immigrants for Bureya are expected to arrive here from other countries.
