The members of the Anglo-American Committee of Inquiry on Palestine left here today after a sub-committee had toured refugee camps in the Bari area. Everywhere, the probers were met by demonstrations demanding unrestricted Jewish immigration into Palestine.
The sub-committee was accompanied by Charles Passman of JDC, and representatives of the UNRRA, refugee organizations and of the Palestinian welfare team which is operating here under UNRRA auspices.
At each camp, refugee spokesmen explained why the Jewish DP’s refused to return to their homelands, and why they insisted that they be allowed to settle in Palestine.
